Brownell PTA Meeting Minutes ��� 9/1/09

Victoria Oakes, Brownell PTA president for 2009-2010, called the meeting to order and welcomed members and guests at 7:07pm.  Victoria explained the purpose of the evening's committee fair and membership sign-up opportunity and then introduced principal Chris Schefdore.

Principal Schefdore also welcomed those in attendance and then introduced the new CLC director, Stephanie Fanders.

Stephanie spoke briefly advising that the before and after school programs were running well with approximately 44-45 in attendance in the mornings and 46-47 in attendance at the after school program.    She also mentioned that the fall CLC after school clubs were preparing to kickoff and that a flyer would be sent home in this week's Wednesday folder.

Principal Schefdore then continued to speak and introduced the Watch Dogs and Watch Moms programs as well as Top Dog, Mark Mulherin and Top Mom, Amy Uhlmann.

An explanation was given that technology studies were being integrated into media time with the new media specialist Mrs. Bunde and that more information regarding new staff and new staffing assignments would be in the New & Notes also coming out in this week's Wednesday folder.

Brownell is a targeted Title I school which provides extra funding for reading and math intervention for students needing extra assistance in those areas.

Everyone was encouraged to checkout the Brownell website.

Lastly the Parent Resource Center was explained to the new parents at the meeting advising that there were educational games and resources available for check out in the library for parents to work on with their children. 

The formal portion of the PTA meeting concluded at 7:15pm at which time those in attendance went back to asking and answering questions about the PTA and its different committees represented at the fair.

Math homework will be sent home 2 to 3 times per week.
